Small World
Went to the gym and a few things happened.
1) There are a few new machines in the gymn...not fully set-up yet
2) Tried the bandana on the head as I tend to sweat too much. So far it does help but think I still need a face towel.
3) My favourite treadmill acted funny...stopped a few times in mid-run. Finally had to run on another machine.
4) Got to know Ng, a regular. Good chat and surprise, surprise he is a good fren of YYY....one of my ACS classmates. Its a small world.

3 nites in Bangkok - Not 1 Night in Bkk
Flew into Bangkok and checked into Shangri-La. Went to gym and did the 5 km run. Later went with MS, YWK, RM & AH to China Town for sharkfin soups...... Will upload pic later as both blogspot & flickr websites seem to have some issues uploading pics.
## Just managed to get them uploaded...
Chinatown in Bangkok
This is the sharkfin....big bowl eh?
Came across this chinese opera just behind the Shang as we were walking around.
Mon 24 July
Went for massage in Healthland after the workshop with the same group . Decent massage for a fairly decent price. By the time we finished it was almost 10pm BKK and took cabs to the Chinese restaurant recommended by k CK. Wrong info and by the time we located the place it was closed. Decided to go back to Nam Sing in China Town but called first to check whether the shop was still open for business....fortunately it was.
Tue 25 July
Got up at 7am for the run. Skipped breakfast and went to workshop.
Had group dinner at the Chinese restaurant that we missed last nite. Have to say the sharkfin in this restaurant was much better than that in Nam Sing. Think I have enough sharkfin for the rest of my live.
Pics from Doulos outing
Doulos activities and their mission statement The floating bookshop.....
Doulos outing ....
Went onboard Doulos with M2, WL & WW around 3pm. Missed the Star Cruise terminal and had to double back after reaching Pulau Indah.
M2 had been on the Doulos before many years ago but this was the first trip for the gals & me. JS went there later with his friends.
Met DY & family onboard. It was quite warm inside the covered books area but supposed they need to cut the cost down by only using fans. The vessel was commissioned around 1912....that's old!
Bought a book for myself but the gals had a field day....costed RM260 minus RM20 which WL paid for some books.
Later went to Teluk Gong with DY & family for a nice seafood dinner.

More bloggers get more personal
Some statistics although taken from the US should roughtly represent the bloggers community globally ...
'Bloggers in the past, generally were believed to be older white men who blogged about technology or politics to the general public, and who commented on news from journalists... and observed journalism -- that`s the image provided by the media,' Lenhart said.
But the survey paints a different picture explained Lenhart, describing the blogosphere as divided among men and women and mostly made up of 18 to 30 year olds, who are blogging about their personal lives and personal experiences to a relatively small audience of family and friends.
Fifty-four percent of bloggers are under the age of 30, and women represented 46 percent of bloggers versus men at 54 percent, the report said. Meanwhile, 76 percent of bloggers say the reason they blog is to document their personal experience and share them with others, while 64 percent say they blog to share practical knowledge or skills with others.
And some 54 percent of bloggers say they have never published their writing or media creations anywhere else versus 44 percent who said they have.
The report also found that 37 percent of bloggers believed that \'my life and experiences' were the primary topics of their blog, followed by political and government with 11 percent, entertainment with 7 percent, sports at 6 percent, general news and current events at 5 percent, business at five percent, technology at 4 percent, religion, spirituality or faith at 2 percent, and lastly health or illness problem at 1 percent. Other topics of mention included opinions, volunteering, education, and organizations.
But Lenhart also noted that more than half of bloggers interviewed, 55 percent, said they use a pseudonym.
This shows us a different side of blogging,' Lenhart said. Bloggers are sharing personal experiences, while maintaining their privacy.
In addition, according to Lenhart and Fox, 'bloggers are avid consumers and creators of online content' as well as 'heavy users of the internet in general.'
It was reported that 44 percent of bloggers have taken material such as songs, text, and images, and remixed it into their own artistic creation, compared to 18 percent of all Internet users who do so. And moreover, 77 percent of bloggers have shared something online they created themselves versus 26 percent of Internet users who have done so.
Other findings included:
-- 87 percent of bloggers allow comments on their blog.
-- 72 percent of bloggers post photos to their blog.
-- 41 percent of bloggers say they have a blogroll or friends list on their blog.
-- 8 percent of bloggers earn money on their blog.
The complete report can be found: www.pewinternet.org.

Other than the obvious thing about age group I would categorise that I fall into the majority group.

All Over in 5 Minutes...waiting for WW
Most of the kids were whisked by their parents as soon as they were out & some made their way to their bas sekeloh...Within 5 minutes almost everyone was gone
All Over in 5 minutes....the run began and its all a blurrrr
Immediately as the second bell rang, all broke loose & the army rushed up....
And soon a sea of bodies, faces, bags and BO engulfed the staircase and not to mention the screams of delights of being let out of the school.
All Over in 5 minutes - First Bell
Arrived @ Kuen Cheng early, before school ends @ 6.20pm.
Interesting to see how happy the kids were & how eager they were to go home.
First bell @ 6.18 and all queued to run....
1st Zocor
Will take my first Zocor (20mg) pill tonight for next 30 days. Zocor is simvastatin for lowering LDL....my aim is to reduce it fr 3.5mmol/L to 2.58mmol/L in 30 days. Dr. CL had taken some blood samples to test for enzyme level as a reference for before & after. Felt abit like a guinea pig!
Running is good and it is showing....
Comparing the medical results of Jan 05 that was taken just before the Jakarta assignment

Total Cholesterol {<5.2} 06- 5.4(",) / '05 - 5.6
HDL (the good one...) {>1.03 mmol/L} '06 - 1.35 (",)/ '05 - 1.19
LDL (the bad one.....) {<2.58 mmol/L} '06 - 3.56 /'05 - 4.0
Ratio of HDL/Total Chol. {<4.5} '06- 4.0 (",) / '05 - 4.7
All looks good except the LDL and although should not be a big issue Doctor CL suggested that I take Zocor (one of the statins) since there is a history of CHD. Will take Zocor for a month to see whether the bad LDL will go below the 2.58 mmol/L .
Did some research on Zocor.......which is a simvastatin and supposedly one of the 3 statins that are developed from a natural sources, not too sure exactly what is that but sure sound more comforting that of the Lipitol which is a synthetic based statin.
Will start taking tonight and probably go for another round of blood test on 16 August after the Haddyai trip

Bidara Gym...Fitness First Gym
Bukit Kiara gym will be closed for the week. Time to make use of the Bidara gym and went there on Tue. Though it is small it is well contained.
Miss the rowing machine though as there is none. There are few leg press machines plus some high tech looking dumb-bells.
Spend 30 minutes running on the treadmill and also did some cycling.
Very glad that the investment is put to use.....someone paying the installment and we get free use of the gym
That's the swimming pool just below the gym. Kind of cosy small pool with its changing rooms and bath facilities but without hot water. Don't think I will go there in the earl morning ......brrrrr just too cold for me
Wed.
Had a free pass from AC and decided to try out Fitness First in Menara Maxis on Wed evening around 6pm. Went with T2 as probably need a member to help register. The place was packed......full of moving bodies probably this is the peak period...people hanging out to avoid the jam etc. Mind my own business and did a 4 km run and probably a 1 km row. Toured the place with T2......interesting but don't think will ever join. One additional point - for a RM150 monthly fee (c.f. to RM104 for BK) one don't even get a towel!

Q Box?
Since the XTrail was parked in Time Square, we decided to hang around TS to look for food after picking up her Nokia. Finally decided to have sandwiches at Delifrance but WL did not like the salmon sandwich that we ordered. As we did not need rush home we decided to hunt for food that is more palatable to WL.
Finally we went to the new FoodCourt @ Floor 10. The stalls did not look appetising at all.
But guess what saw......Q Box. Small cubicles with youngsters singing (sounded more like yelling) away inside. These are actually karaoke booths....RM1 per song! That's what I call a quickie karaoke.

Difference made by the skirtings
<
Looking at the pics I realised that it is the extra skirtings for both the front & the back. Now I know, after having the car for 3 months....
