CATCH UPs

This week is all about catching up old friends. Had lunch with GS & PL on Fri. GS is an ex colleague from CB days Port Klang when we both worked as Engineer Surveyors and had not met with PL for last 3 years although in the same co. We did lunch in Little Penang and later adjourned for teh tarik at the concourse level. What do you get when u put 3 technical based guys together...of course we talked about corrosion, telemetry, calibration etc....... We also talked about the explosion at the STK's jetty where two of our CB colleagues died....sad. I can still remember vividly one of the guys H who was a fellow hainanese and did a couple of assignment with him.

## Just finished watching the Shanghai F1 Qualifying round and look forward to an exiting F1 tomorrow...the question is whether the weather will continue to be wet which will be an issue for Ferrari as the Bridgestone tyres appeared to be underperforming under these wet condition. Well will know soon and it will also mean I will be late or might even skip tomorrow tennis.

Great discoveries

This week has been a great....a few great discoveries. First managed to contact some old classmates....and discovered that we (two of us) were related somewhere through marriage.

Was at Bukit Kiara Club this morning and discovered the track up to Bukit Kiara. The air was wonderfully clean & cool and surrounding serene. Took 40 minutes to complete the 5km walk and later went to the gym.

Serene surrounding and fresh air. Friendly fellow walkers too....

The track is just before the Equestrian Club house on the left towards the second gate

I think the words are....THIS WAY TO YOUR BETTER HEALTH.

There is this new leg press machine I have wanted to use but no one seem to know how to operate and after a while, one of the members showed the proper technique. This is great as it provide another routine/exercise to strengthen the leg muscles.

Headlines from NST, STAR.........Four killed in Hat Yai blasts: 8 Malaysians injured after 6 bombs go off
18 Sep 2006

HAT YAI: Busloads of Malaysians fled this popular holiday destination yesterday, while many others cancelled their trips after a series of six bomb attacks killed four people and injured more than 60, including eight Malaysians.

We were there last month and one of the "bombed" shops/shopping complexes was where we had our ice-cream & the pulut durian/mango rice on 12 August...... If the timing had been different the best case scenario would be that T2, CH & myself would have some cuts and ice-cream splashed on our faces & the Swenson Earthquake would probably be rebranded as Explosion! instead. Well worst case would be hemmmhemm.....would leave it to your imagination.
Having Swenson "earthquake" in the shopping complex just below Lee Garden Hotel and enjoying our durian and mango pulut rice just outside the hotel.

Hooray..... Triple Bonus & more

JS got his first salary, a double pay increment next year for his NZ allowance (courtesy of the Malaysian Government) and he got back his result for his Grade 7 clarinet practical...he can go for Grade 8 if he wants to....leaving it to him and probably teacher Claire who is instrumental in all these straight passes - Grade 3 to Grade 5 to Grade 7.
WL also getting back on her feet.....all through His Goodness
WW got 30/30 for her bahasa which is just simply fantastic!

2 Old Frens

Hmmm .....met 2 old frens @ KLIA. TK formerly from our friendly
competitor S. Met him as I was leaving the Enrich lounge. As I was in a
hurry to get to the gate G4 which was @ the other terminal, we did not
manage to talk 2 much but still able to exchange some notes. Learned
that he is now with another MNC. We should be able to catch up now that
he is no longer with S.
While waiting for the connecting skytrain saw a face that I have not
seen for years....I think I met her only once since we left ACS 30+
years ago! CH is now a topgun in UM hospital....chatted about the
children; 3 vs 2.

Free but Not so safe ride....

Free but Not so safe ride....

Saw this while on the way from Mulia Hotel to Kristal
Hotel. This is a common feature on this train line...the red & blue one as I don't seen this on the other silver coloured trains/linewhich I suppose are going much faster. Still it is definitely not safe but then again the alternative is probably simply too expensive or slow as my colleagues confirmed that nobody pay for the morning train rides.....sort of a social obligation.

Padang....its dangerous!

Padang....its dangerous!
Originally uploaded by agfoxx.
We went to Garuda (somewhere in Pondok Indah) for the authentic nasi Padang...and I have to say it is really dangerous. All of us OVERATE ....the variety of spicy & chili food is amazing & fabulous; even FFi had a second helping of rice to go with the rendang, chicken, petai.....

Don't think the 6km run this morning would really compensate against the extra calories & cholesterol.....slghhh its a price one need to pay.

That's FFi little finger in a mini cast with Di & Dw signatures (I think). Apparently she 'damaged' the little finger while trying to take her bag from luggage compartment. Bone not fractured but some damage to the nerves/tendons. One need to be consciousness of potential injury @ all time.

It all started last Sun when WL was dressed in all brown....that she looked like a tree. Even YH who joined us for sunday worship agreed of course in good humour. Later as when we were in Desa Danau for lunch we joked about that again. Apparently even WL's fren K in church commented about the tree thingy & that’s when we asked her to post with leaves.

And that 's the family pretending to be the Tree....

Bought this book @ KLIA enroute to Jakarta written by Mark H. McCormack who wrote one of the first few books (other than the bible of course) that actually helped to shape my life & thinking in both corporate & personal arena.

Started reading it in the plane - some good stuffs like being aware of
the often seemingly small but clearly are defining moments.

BTW MAS have improved their onboard nasi lemak & the result - overate again as I already have taken a big bowl of porridge at the lounge. Need to run hard this evening.

Lunch with JS @ Cosway

Fri 1 Sept 06
Had lunch with JS @ Wagon in Wisma Cosway. Ordered mee jawa & wantan mee dry....both dishes are quite good but on the pricey side...no wonder JS does not take lunch there although it is just across his office.

Compare the pics. This one taken using JS's Dopod.........&

and this one (with some post brightness/colour adjustments) using my Dallab during lunch. Quite obvious that the pic from Dopod 2M pixel is superior to the Dallab VGA camera though the sharpness is lacking because of the low light level.....pda/phone cameras are generally not meant for dim indoor surrounding.

Had coffee @ Starbuck after that.
